Norge Ski Club

Norge Ski Club is the oldest, continuously open ski club in the United States, founded in 1905 by a group of Norwegian men. They originally lived in Chicago and traveled to Fox River Grove to ski jump, eventually building cottages on the club grounds. Over the years, the club has welcomed men and women of all nationalities to enjoy ski jumping.

In its early years, the club attracted large crowds from Chicago and its suburbs to its tournaments. The club has also hosted promotional jumps, such as renting out Navy Pier in Chicago and setting up a jump where jumpers landed in the water, and building a huge scaffolding for a jump event at Soldier Field using crushed ice instead of snow for the jump and landing.

The Norge Ski Club offers training for kids as young as 3 up to 90 years old. Training classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday nights, and the club provides equipment for beginners to try. Kids in the junior program compete at various tournaments throughout the year, mostly in the central division of the USA.

Norge is one of the top learning centers for Olympic Ski Jumping in the USA, with 5 jumps available year-round for different skill levels. The programs run from May through November (depending on weather, November might be skipped) and from January through March, with beginners training on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Most equipment is available at no additional charge, and beginners can use alpine ski equipment during the winter.

Become a member and get the kids in your family jumping, and perhaps one day, fulfill an Olympic dream!
